Advanced Manufacturing Process Specialist


Role Description:

The role involves working in an innovative environment to develop and implement advanced manufacturing processes using 3D printing technologies. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to designing additive manufacturing solutions, operating 3D printing equipment, and ensuring effective lab operations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design for Additive Manufacturing:
    • Develop designs suitable for various AM processes, including LPBF, SLA, and FDM.
    • Apply knowledge of material properties and processing conditions to optimize part performance.
  • 3D Printing & Process Operation:
    • Prepare builds, operate 3D printing machines, and manage material inventory.
    • Perform quality control checks, document results, and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Laboratory Operations Support:
    • Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs).
    • Maintain equipment, manage supplies, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Teaching & Student Support:
    • Assist instructors in hands-on training sessions and demonstrations.
    • Support student projects, providing guidance on design and fabrication techniques.
  • Outreach & Public Engagement:
    • Participate in outreach events, showcasing additive manufacturing capabilities and engaging with the public.
    • Collaborate on developing demonstration models and educational materials.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or materials science is beneficial.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD software (e.g., NX, Fusion) and at least one AM process is required.
  • Familiarity with operating 3D printers and basic troubleshooting is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or in teams is crucial.
