Singapore beBeeExpertise Full time $100,000 - $125,000
Heat Resilience and Performance Expertise

The National University of Singapore's Heat Resilience & Performance Centre (HRPC) is a pioneering research entity, established to address the pressing challenges arising from climate change and extreme heat. We are seeking an accomplished Research Fellow with exceptional expertise in health-related studies to spearhead our critical investigation on the impact of climate change and global warming on human health.

The successful candidate will focus on addressing heat-related illnesses (HRIs) in Singapore's context by establishing baseline HRI data and integrating this with climate projection models to assess future health burdens and intervention strategies. The research aims to provide valuable insights into the distribution and determinants of HRIs, identify risk factors, and standardize diagnosis and management workflows across emergency departments.

  • Lead a retrospective study utilizing a decade of health data to create a comprehensive HRI database.
  • Investigate the distribution and determinants of HRI by applying epidemiological methods to understand patterns and identify risk factors.
  • Collaborate in the execution of a two-year prospective study with emergency departments across all public hospitals in Singapore, focusing on standardizing HRI diagnosis and management workflows.
  • Analyze and integrate prospective and retrospective HRI data with climate projections and predictive models to estimate future HRI burdens and assess interventions.
  • Engage with stakeholders in healthcare and climate research to align study outcomes with national health preparedness and resource allocation priorities.
  • Prepare and disseminate research findings through scientific publications, reports, and presentations to both academic and healthcare stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  1. A Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Epidemiology, Public Health, Climate Science, Data Science, or related disciplines.
  2. Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale datasets and conducting health-related research studies.
  3. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools, particularly in health and climate data integration.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  5. Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to fostering a collaborative research environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in research related to climate change, heat-related illnesses, or public health preparedness.
  • Familiarity with Singapore's healthcare system and national health priorities.
  • Experience with predictive modeling and scenario analysis in health and climate studies.

This role is based in Singapore, offering a stimulating work environment and opportunities for professional growth.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified about the next steps in the recruitment process.
