Lead Product Owner for Air Traffic Management

About AMS
The Airspace Mobility Solutions (AMS) division, part of the Global Business Unit Land and Air Systems, delivers cutting-edge Air Traffic Management (ATM), Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM), Security, and Digital Aviation solutions for both Commercial and Defense markets. The AMS division oversees 11% of the world's airspace and, with revenues exceeding 500 million Euros globally, stands as the leading provider of airspace management solutions. In Singapore, the focus is on delivering and supporting two primary ATM solutions.
Role Overview
The Product Owner (PO) will spearhead and provide technical guidance for a multidisciplinary team operating within a SAFe framework. The PO is tasked with the allocation and prioritization of ATM functionalities to epics, ensuring maximum value delivery by the team while aligning the team backlog with business objectives as defined by the Initiative Owner (IO).
The PO will engage with key stakeholders, including solution architects, specialty engineers (Safety, Security, Human Factors), and ATM subject matter experts to prepare and implement requirement and design modifications in accordance with a defined system functional baseline to meet customer expectations and project cost targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish a clear vision outlining the team's purpose and develop a strategy aligned with the team's capabilities.
- Coordinate the co-engineering efforts of the Feature Team working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
- Define the work (Epics/Features/Stories) and create a well-structured team backlog consisting of thoroughly defined and deliverable items while maintaining quality standards.
- Prioritize the team backlog to facilitate the execution of program priorities and ensure alignment with business objectives set by the Initiative Owner.
- Define and verify the Definition of Ready (DoR) to ensure a unit of work is prepared for execution.
- Define and verify the Definition of Done (DoD) to confirm a unit of work is complete.
- Synthesize information from various sources.
- Proactively identify, alongside the Scrum Master, any necessary upskilling required within the team.
- Design and maintain systems engineering artifacts for the ATM function, including requirements, capability descriptions, functional behavior, and data exchanges (internal and external interfaces).
- Ensure that transversal constraints related to the function are taken into account (Safety, Human Factors, Performance, Security).
- Contribute to and participate in technical reviews (SOR, SFR, FIRR, SwRR).
- Assist in defining the validation strategy.
- Provide technical oversight to other teams within the project, ensuring that the designed solution is implemented according to the design and adheres to project schedules, costs, and quality standards.
- Support the Engineering Delivery Manager (EDM) by providing timely inputs to maintain the master schedule.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- Postgraduate studies in Systems Engineering (desirable).
- Experience in Air Traffic Management across various functional areas.
- Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in Systems Engineering, including Requirements, Design, Integration, and Verification and Validation.
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering Standards, e.g., ISO/IEC 15288.
- Demonstrated experience in the ATM domain and related standards, e.g., ICAO, Eurocontrol.
- Experience in product and project development across various methodologies, with a focus on iterative/agile development.
- Proven experience as a Product Owner within an Agile framework.
- Knowledge of Safety, Security, and Human Factors standards and practices.
- Ability to achieve effective outcomes in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment.
- Strong coaching and knowledge-sharing capabilities.
- Proficient in managing diverse stakeholders with varying objectives.
- Possess a positive attitude along with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.
- Comfortable managing complexity and demonstrating sound judgment and independent decision-making capabilities.
