Senior Energy Market Analyst

About the role:
- We are seeking a skilled Quantitative Energy Trading Specialist to join our team. As a Quantitative Energy Trading Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing quantitative models to optimize energy trading operations, manage financial risks, and support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with traders and risk managers to deliver commercial impact through data-driven insights and market analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Modelling & Analytics: Develop and enhance pricing, risk, and trading models for energy markets, including derivatives and structured products.
- Loss Control: Create frameworks to minimize losses through risk avoidance, prevention, and diversification.
- Market Insights: Analyze large datasets to identify trends, forecast prices, and assess credit risk.
- Simulation & Forecasting: Run power system simulations and perform scenario-based forecasting.
- Collaboration: Work with traders, risk teams, and stakeholders to align strategies and risk practices.
- Client Engagement: Advise clients on market conditions, validate pricing models, and tailor solutions.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policy requirements.
- Technical Development: Write and maintain robust financial applications (Python, Java, Django).
- Continuous Improvement: Adapt models and systems to evolving markets and technologies.
Requirements:
- A Master's or PhD in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar quantitative field.
- At least 3 years of experience in quantitative finance, preferably in energy trading.
- Strong Python skills; experience with statistical tools and financial modelling software.
- Solid grasp of energy markets, trading strategies, and risk management.
