Health and Safety Specialist

Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to administer, maintain and implement new improvements on occupational health and safety standards within our organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for administering work procedures, safety permit systems, in-house safety rules and regulations to control occupational safety and health risks.

  1. Administering work procedures, safety permit systems, in-house safety rules and regulations to control occupational safety and health risks.
  2. Reviewing and updating compliance to local legislation, acts and regulations pertaining to workplace safety, health and fire safety, and its related local standards and codes of practice.
  3. Maintaining emergency response procedures and briefing production teams on emergency response procedures and rescue operations related to fire, toxic gas releases.
  4. Reviewing and carrying out risk assessment of all work processes and activities to manage and control safety and health risks, fire and explosion risks within our premises.
  5. Coordinating and monitoring annual testing and maintenance programme for fire protection systems, facilities and fire safety control measures with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Planning, organising and conducting safety induction training and education programme, and promotional activities for the plant employees and stakeholders to promote safety culture and awareness.
  7. Planning and coordinating training programmes for plant employees to ensure that legal compliances are met.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering / Environmental Safety / Occupational Safety and Health or related field.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years' experience in petroleum/ petrochemical/ chemical industry.
  • Registered Safety Officer with Ministry of Manpower.
  • Competency in Confined Space Assessor, Workplace Safety and Health and Working at Height Manager courses.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative requirements, regulations and best practices.
  • Possess good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work as a team player.
