Role Overview: This position requires the candidate to conduct testing on instruments equipped with embedded and networked subsystems, utilizing both automated and manual testing methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive white box test cases to ensure the quality and dependability of our software solutions.
  • Create and execute both manual and automated firmware tests using Python, while meticulously analyzing and documenting the results.
  • Support Illumina's Diagnostics and Clinical platforms.
  • Contribute to the automation of tests across various instruments and networked subsystems that drive Illumina's leading DNA sequencing technologies.
  • Handle test reporting and perform both quantitative and qualitative analyses of test data.
  • Execute testing of FPGA designs with various tools, identify issues, and collaborate with the development team for effective debugging.
  • Collaborate with senior firmware testers and developers to enhance all aspects of the firmware testing process within an Agile framework.
  • Engage with some of the most talented cross-functional engineers in Product Development.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in verification and validation, particularly in the software testing and development domain, with a focus on firmware and embedded software.
  • Familiarity with embedded software testing concepts, including the development of test cases and engineering analysis for edge condition testing.
  • Experience in white box testing using Python or knowledge of Pytest for firmware testing with TCP/IP interfaces.
  • Ability to comprehend firmware written in C.
  • Some exposure to Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
  • Capability to read PCB schematics and troubleshoot issues using laboratory equipment, including JTAG tools, Wireshark, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Understanding of firmware requirements and architecture related to firmware testing.
  • Knowledge of FPGA technologies and testing methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Familiarity with Linux application testing using shell scripts and test automation is advantageous.
