About the Role

The Platform Product Integrations team at Wise Asia-Pacific Pte. Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Lead to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on direct integrations with payments systems and partners worldwide. As an Engineering Lead, you will lead a specific domain from roadmap through to operation, as well as the people side of the team.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary focus will be on designing, implementing, and maintaining integrations between Wise and complex financial systems. You will also be responsible for developing and designing scalable and repeatable architecture with complex regulatory requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing infrastructure to determine inefficiencies and problems, and creating automation and optimization.
  • Collaborating with our larger platform engineering team and alongside product engineering on globally impactful projects.
  • Communicating with various stakeholders throughout Wise, planning roadmaps with your team, and working through challenges to determine scope and realistic delivery.
  • Working with other Leads to influence the direction and change current technology implementations, as well as advocate for excellence with third parties.
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.
    • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development for team members.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical initiatives with business goals.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience leading and managing teams (3-8+ team size) in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in designing and deploying complex infrastructure on cloud and on-prem.
  • Experience in making complex deployments repeatable using modern Infrastructure as Code principles and scripting.
  • Applying software development principles to infrastructure design and deployment.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into explainable technical solutions for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading and managing technical projects.
  • Experience with complex deployments (e.g., configuring firewalls, IPsec, GRE, security policies, network ACLs, BGP routing, and troubleshooting complex networks).

Technical Requirements

The following technologies and vendors are used within the company:

  • System and Network Architecture and design principles and best practices.
  • Java Microservices on Kubernetes (Software development experience is desirable but not essential).
  • AWS Networking: VPC, VGW, Transit-GW, Direct-Connect, VPC Peering.
  • ELK, Prometheus.
  • Terraform.
  • CM tools (e.g: Ansible, Puppet).
  • AWX.
  • Git, with Github.
  • VPNs (we use IPSec heavily).
  • Network routing/switching experience on different vendor OS (Cisco, Juniper, Check Point).
  • ISP Peering, DataCenter integrations, cross-connects.
