About the Role
Global Health Research Opportunities
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join our team and contribute to cutting-edge global health research. As a Research Fellow, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with world-leading experts, develop an independent research portfolio in infectious disease epidemiology and health economics, and lead high-quality research on infectious disease modelling and health economic evaluations.
This role is ideal for candidates who have recently completed their doctoral training and are seeking to establish themselves as independent researchers in infectious disease modelling, health economics, and vaccine policy. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and extending mathematical, epidemiological, and economic models for evaluating infectious disease interventions, including pandemic preparedness and vaccine cost-effectiveness.
In addition to your technical skills and expertise, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with international teams of modellers, economists, and public health experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to high-quality research on infectious disease modelling and health economic evaluations
- Design, develop, and extend mathematical, epidemiological, and economic models for evaluating infectious disease interventions, including pandemic preparedness and vaccine cost-effectiveness
- Develop and execute independent research projects aligned with the School's strategic priorities (e.g., vaccine-preventable disease with pandemic potential)
- Contribute to drafting and leading research grant applications as principal investigator or co-investigator
- Produce high-impact peer-reviewed publications, including as first and senior author
- Collaborate with international teams of modellers, economists, and public health experts
- Supervise and mentor junior researchers and PhD students
- Disseminate research findings at international conferences, workshops, and policy meetings with key partners
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in infectious disease modelling and/or health economic evaluation, supported by peer-reviewed publications in high-quality journals
- Proficiency in programming and modelling tools (e.g., R, Python, C/C++, Julia)
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with experience handling complex datasets and conducting statistical analyses
- Strong writing and communication skills, with experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams across different countries and cultures
