Research Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to contribute to the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study, a landmark international research effort advancing data-driven health policy and research impact. The GBD Study aims to provide high-quality estimates of the global and regional burden of diseases and injuries, which will be used to inform decision-making for governments, donors, and other stakeholders.

Purpose of the Position
We seek a researcher with strong quantitative skills, passion for global health, and a desire to shape health policy through evidence-based research. Appointments will be made on a contract basis, typically 1-2 years in duration, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead GBD research projects, set research direction, oversee project design, execution, and analytical planning.
  • Supervise junior team members and serve as an in-house methodological expert.
  • Develop subject-matter expertise, engage in policy translation, and explore grant opportunities.

Requirements
A MD or PhD in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, public health, mathematics, social sciences, or other quantitative disciplines is required. Additionally, we seek individuals who demonstrate interest in global health and health policy, have strong quantitative competencies and sound judgment in data analysis and interpretation, proficiency in R or Python for statistical analysis and modelling, experience leading research teams or managing research projects, solid publication track record, strong work ethics, communication and leadership skills.
