Job Summary

The Lead Counsel role is responsible for providing legal guidance and advice to the company's markets businesses across Asia Pacific.

This position requires a seasoned lawyer who can analyze complex contracts and agreements, provide strategic guidance on market-related issues, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential risks.

  • Analyzing complex contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with laws and regulations;
  • Providing strategic guidance on market-related issues to support business growth;
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential risks;
  • Contributing to business planning and development initiatives;

Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Negotiating and preparing ISDA Master Agreement, Global Master Repurchase Agreement, Global Master Securities Lending Agreement, CDEA and other markets trading documentation;
  • Negotiating ancillary trading documentation, including review of corporate documentation, security and collateral documentation;
  • Conducting due diligence to determine whether agreements are enforceable and meet the well-founded basis standard under applicable capital rules;

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • A Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree;
  • A Bar license in good standing to practice law;
  • 5-8 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services;
  • Banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations;
  • Knowledge of international laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of the regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business;
