Job Title

In-Country Cultural Specialists are pivotal in crafting AI systems that respond sensitively and accurately to diverse cultural nuances.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop culturally relevant training data that mirrors authentic local language and customs.
  • Create evaluation sets to assess AI on cultural sensitivity, humor, sensitive topics, and taboos.
  • Evaluate AI outputs for cultural appropriateness, tone, accuracy, and potential bias.
  • Collaborate in defining 'cultural awareness' and support the creation of guidelines.
  • Review datasets to ensure they reflect diverse cultural contexts and perspectives.
  • Identify and categorize cultural and social biases, providing insights to reduce them in AI models.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated idiomatic proficiency in Singaporean English (Singlish) with in-depth knowledge of Singaporean culture.
  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Sociolinguistics, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Cultural Studies, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of local customs, traditions, social dynamics, and current events.
  • Professional background in writing, journalism, education, community leadership, or similar fields involving cultural expertise.
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity across demographics.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
