Job Description

This is a highly demanding and rewarding role for an experienced Maritime professional to lead, manage and optimise fleet operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, cost efficiency and client satisfaction.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee vessel compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and legislation.
  • Stay updated on changes in compliance standards and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Establish and maintain effective compliance monitoring systems and practices.
  • Oversee the Planned Maintenance System, ship inspections, audits and dockings.
  • Ensure the fleet remains seaworthy through proactive maintenance and repair management.
  • Supervise dry-docking activities and ensure efficient execution of repairs.
  • Monitor and address any pending defects, inspection and audit findings.
  • Prepare and submit ship condition reports to Management.
  • Analyse financial reports, budgets and expenditures related to ship operations.
  • Guide Superintendents in drafting budgets for stores, spares, repairs, surveys and dry-docking, considering operational needs, trading areas and potential upgrades.
  • Formulate and oversee budgets to optimise cost management.
  • Manage contracts with ship owners, cargo owners and brokers.
  • Address and resolve any issues arising from client accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure service excellence.
  • Assign backup responsibilities to Superintendents during their travel to ensure continuous office support for vessels.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and efficiency to improve operational productivity.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to Superintendents, enhancing their skills and overall performance to align with organisational objectives.
