Visual Effects Specialist Job

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Visual Effects (VFX) specialist to join our team and contribute their expertise in creating stunning visual effects for games.

In this position, you will be responsible for guiding the conception and implementation of VFX styles, working closely with the Associate Art Director to ensure that the style fits within the art pillars and punctuates the game design.

You will also implement the effects and set the high bar, differentiating and subtleizing your craft. Additionally, you will work with the Product Leads, Delivery Leads, Stakeholders, and the Associate Art Director to stay aligned on vision and priorities.

Your responsibilities will include providing direction for the VFX and art team, setting a clear vision, and providing consistent feedback. You will also balance visual satisfaction and gameplay clarity to ensure amazing effects represent a given action or state.

We are looking for someone with 5+ years of professional experience in the video games industry as a VFX artist. Advanced skills in 3D/2D software, including Maya, 3DS Max, and Photoshop, are required. Experience in creating high-quality, stylized real-time VFX, shipped titles as a Senior or Lead VFX Artist, and high proficiency in VFX development are also necessary.

If you have experience giving direction and delivering clear, constructive feedback to vendors, past leadership or management experience, and development experience creating materials and PBR assets within modern game engines, that's a plus.

As a Visual Effects Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing direction for the VFX and art team

  • Implementing VFX styles that fit within the art pillars and punctuate the game design
  • Working with the Associate Art Director to ensure alignment on vision and priorities
  • Managing distributed teams across time zones and remote work environments
