Lighting Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Lighting Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical expertise in lighting equipment, creativity in design, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lighting Setup and Operation: Install and configure lighting equipment, including fixtures, controllers, and cabling. Operate lighting systems during events, productions, or installations. Ensure proper focus, intensity, and color balance for optimal visual effects.
  • Design and Programming: Assist in designing lighting plans based on event or client requirements. Program lighting sequences and effects using lighting control software or consoles. Collaborate with event producers or directors to achieve desired aesthetics.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of lighting equipment. Troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment to ensure reliability. Keep an inventory of lighting gear and ensure availability for projects.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols during installation, operation, and dismantling of equipment. Ensure all setups comply with regulatory and company standards. Identify and mitigate potential hazards related to lighting operations.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with other technical teams (audio, video, staging) for seamless integration. Assist in setting up and striking down equipment for events. Provide on-site support during rehearsals and live performances.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of lighting setups and configurations. Report on equipment usage, repairs, and replacements to management. Provide feedback for improving lighting operations and setups.
