Job Title: Senior Corporate Banking Manager Asia Pacific

At SMBC Group, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Corporate Banking Manager to join our team in Asia Pacific. As a key member of our Corporate Banking Department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing ESG-related business strategies to support our clients in the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support ESG-related discussions with clients and communicate with Relationship Managers to enable SMBC to find business opportunities.
  • Develop a system to enable ESG-related discussions with clients through workshops and the preparation of general materials.
  • Update various ESG-related information through continuous communication within the Sustainability Solutions Group in APAC and Sustainability related departments in Japan.
  • Seek ESG solutions and plan new ESG products to offer to clients in the APAC region.
  • Enhance collaboration between Japanese and Non-Japanese clients.
  • Take charge of administering, managing, and improving overall administrative affairs in the office.
  • Develop and implement plans for education and training for subordinates, and provide guidance on and supervise performance of duties thereof.
Requirements:
  • Graduate degree from a university.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Minimum 10 years of Banking and Finance experience, with around 2 years or more of ESG-related business experience.
  • Leading and managing a small team.
  • Engaged in Corporate Banking.

  • Have a strong appreciation of the inherent risks that are involved in achieving goals.

  • Analytical mindset and ability to enable process implementation.
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships at all levels.
  • Ensure adherence to laid-down risk and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to articulate the right goals, set priorities, and benchmarks.
  • Proficiency in Japanese is advantageous.
Knowledge:
  • Good understanding of ESG trends.
  • Good understanding of the functioning of various departments/teams in the organization.
  • In-depth understanding of the risk environment in which the bank operates.
  • In-depth understanding of the regulatory framework in which the bank operates.
