Operating Theatre Nurse
Job Description
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care, assist during surgical procedures, and ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality operating theatre environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the operating theatre environment ensuring all equipment and instruments are sterilized and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and other medical staff during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments and support.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and condition before, during, and after surgery ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Document surgical procedures, patient information, and intraoperative care accurately and timely.
- Manage surgical supplies inventory and report any shortages or equipment malfunctions.
- Participate in the preoperative assessment and postoperative care of patients.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and provide appropriate nursing care.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality patient care.
- Engage in continuous professional development and attend relevant training sessions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with relevant nursing board registration (e.g. Singapore Nursing Board).
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
- Prior experience typically minimum 1-2 years in operating theatre or perioperative nursing preferred.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments aseptic techniques and operating theatre protocols.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication teamwork and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work shifts including nights weekends and public holidays.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
