Mechanical Repair Technician - Leadhand

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Repair Technician to join our team as a Leadhand. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing mechanical overhauling, reconditioning and repairs of engine parts.

The Leadhand will identify parts that need to be replaced and place orders for parts or repair services as necessary. They will also assist the Foreman in completing the work scope within the given timeframe and stand in duty as a foreman if the Foreman is not available.

The successful candidate will work closely with Department Manager, Repair Managers, Service Engineers to support their mechanical repair needs and schedule troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment.

The job requires effective time management and coordination skills to manage all aspects of the job assigned by the Repair Manager, including procuring parts, tools, equipment and supplies required for troubleshooting and repairing vessel mechanical equipment.

The Leadhand must be able to interpret technical drawings and other technical documents to determine appropriate repair parts and procedures. They will operate and inspect completed work to determine repair success.

The successful candidate will demonstrate efficient job planning and time scheduling for themselves and the mechanical technicians.

They must execute all tasks with prescribed safety equipment in place and follow applicable OSHA rules for themselves and the mechanical technicians.

The Leadhand must prioritize safety for themselves and colleagues and follow the company's environment, health and safety policy.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • At least ITE certificate or O' Level qualification
  • At least 5 years of mechanical repair related experience
