Senior Communications Editor

The East Asian Institute is seeking a seasoned editorial and communications professional with expertise in foreign affairs and public policy.
">This key role involves ensuring high-quality written content, overseeing research publication production, and driving outreach initiatives.
">Responsibilities">- To guarantee that the institute's written output adheres to exceptional standards of editing, making it relevant to core audiences.">
- Oversee the production process for major research publications, including background briefs, commentaries, flash briefs, and the East Asian Policy open-access journal.">
- Contribute to further developing outreach and communication platforms.
- Copy Editing: Demonstrating expertise in grammar, style, punctuation, syntax, usage, accuracy, structure, balance, and fairness; guiding researchers to maintain high writing standards and adhere to house style through training and mentorship; working closely with researchers, translators, and the communications team to enhance readability and presentation of EAI's research products.">
- Publications: Overseeing the production process for the East Asian Policy (EAP) journal, involving copy and sub-editing, typesetting, page layout on Adobe InDesign, proof-reading, and potentially updating design; managing ad-hoc EAI publications, coordinating with the research team and contracted publishers.
- Relevant bachelor's degree in humanities or communications, accompanied by at least 10 years of experience in academic publishing or media/journalism.">
- Meticulous with an excellent command of English.">
- Keen awareness of current affairs and public policy developments, particularly Northeast Asia.">
- Strong understanding of the target audience and their priorities.">
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and project-manage tasks.">
- Familiarity with academic publishing and Microsoft Office software, particularly Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.">
- Proficiency in Chinese verbal and written will be advantageous.">
- Self-motivated and a team player.
