Chief Governance Specialist Job Overview

The Business Risk Team plays a pivotal role in helping organisations navigate governance, risk, and controls so they can make informed decisions.

We support financial institutions and businesses by conducting internal audits, assessing the effectiveness of their internal audit teams, reviewing internal controls, advising on regulatory compliance, and improving governance through enterprise risk management.

During peak periods, our team collaborates closely and supports each other to deliver value to clients in a timely manner. We primarily work with clients in the financial services industry and may entail cross-border collaboration with other firms and international travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on client background and key risks, including applicable regulations for financial institutions.
  • Assist in scoping reviews, propose tailored audit work programs and time schedules.
  • Coordinate kick-off meetings and planning activities.
  • Assist in interviews/workshops with key stakeholders/senior management and test complex areas.
  • Prepare written reports, organise closing meetings, wrap up audit work files, and support engagement closure.
  • Support relationship building with clients and assist with business development.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Recognised Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related fields.
  • Fresh graduates or at least one year of relevant experience for the associate position, preferably in a risk and control/compliance role.
  • At least two years of relevant experience for the senior associate position, preferably in a risk and control/compliance role.
  • Professional qualification (CPA, CA, CIA) highly preferred but not mandatory.
  • Technical knowledge of relevant business risk areas and familiarity with the financial services industry an advantage.
  • Ability to prioritise and work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong sense of accountability, good time management, and project management skills.
  • Effective report writing skills, proficiency with MS Office, strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates with data analytics skills will have an advantage.
