We are seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join our team in the field of integrated quantum photonics. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and fabricating innovative photonic devices, developing and maintaining fabrication processes, and performing optical and microwave characterization.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Material Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with experience in nano/micro-fabrication and programming skills in Python and Matlab.

About the Project

The project aims to develop critical components for photonic quantum information processing using thin-film lithium niobate as the material platform. The device components include on-chip photon-pair and squeezed-light sources, electro-optic modulators, and integrated single-photon detectors.

The successful candidate will be involved in a range of activities, including design and fabrication, process development, characterization, and collaboration with graduate students. They will also be expected to disseminate research results through reports, presentations, and manuscripts.

  • Design and Fabricate Integrated Photonic Devices: The candidate will be responsible for designing and fabricating novel photonic devices using advanced nanofabrication techniques.
  • Develop and Maintain Fabrication Processes: The candidate will develop and optimize fabrication processes to ensure high-quality device performance.
  • Perform Optical and Microwave Characterization: The candidate will perform detailed optical and microwave characterization of the fabricated devices to evaluate their performance.
  • Mentor Graduate Students: The candidate will assist in mentoring graduate students working on related projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Ph.D. Degree: A Ph.D. degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Material Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Nano/Micro-Fabrication Experience: Experience in nano/micro-fabrication techniques, including lithography, etching, and deposition.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Matlab.
