The Boiler Operations Manager oversees the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers and auxiliary machinery. This includes maintaining engine room watch as directed and reporting equipment defects to the Chief Engineer immediately.

Administration and Supervision
  • Manage and supervise engine department personnel ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Allocate routine maintenance duties and oversee task completion.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and tasks for improved performance tracking.
  • Oversee daily fuel, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, and fresh water movements for efficient operations.
Spare Parts and Repairs Management
  • Advise the Chief Engineer on spare parts requirements ensuring timely procurement.
  • Evaluate and implement proper storage, labeling, and preservation of spares for optimal availability.
  • Collaborate in preparing detailed repair lists to minimize downtime.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Familiarize self and crew with Company safety policies and Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Promote health and safety in the engine room through proactive measures.
  • Cooperate with Ship's Safety Officer to enhance a positive safety culture.
  • Regularly test emergency stand-by machinery and document results.
  • Ensure crew training in emergency equipment operation.
  • Assist with bunkering and fuel transfer operations safely.
  • Enforce cleanliness and order in engine room spaces for efficiency.
Handover Procedures
  • Prepare comprehensive Handing Over/Taking Over Reports.
  • Verify:
    • Engine room condition.
    • Cargo and ballast arrangements.
    • Maintenance status.
    • Mooring equipment.
  • Submit report using Company forms.
Requirements
  • Valid Class 2 Certificate of Competency is required.
  • A minimum of 12 months' experience in the rank onboard is mandatory.
