Job Description

As a visionary leader in design transformation, you will spearhead the development of digital products that serve millions of Singaporeans. This role involves driving the design strategy and delivery of digital services while building a high-performance design practice across various agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the design vision for digital services, ensuring seamless user experiences across platforms.
  • Build and mentor a team of designers, fostering a culture of design excellence and establishing best practices for user research, interaction design, and service design methodologies.
  • Develop comprehensive design systems that ensure consistency and efficiency across digital platforms while meeting government accessibility standards and citizens' needs.
  • Lead strategic design initiatives that transform traditional government services into intuitive digital experiences, working closely with product, engineering, and policy teams.
  • Influence key stakeholders across agencies to champion user-centred design practices and drive innovation in public service delivery.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in industrial design, human-computer interaction (HCI), graphic design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • More than 10 years of experience in UX design, five of which in a managerial or leadership capacity.
  • Good understanding of design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, or similar.
  • Strategic thinker and a proven ability to drive strategic initiatives in your work.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and methodology, with a strong commitment to design craft and quality.
  • Effective communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong analytical thinking with attention to detail and ability to handle ambiguity.
  • Strong empathy for users and a desire to advocate for their needs.
  • Desire to train, guide, and mentor more junior team members.
  • Experience working with and managing vendors tasked with delivering on design work.
  • Experience managing designers, mapping career pathways, and supporting professional growth of designers.
