Primary School Educational Specialist

The role of a Primary School Learning Support Teacher is multifaceted and highly rewarding. As a member of the dynamic support team, you will be responsible for fostering an inclusive environment that prioritises a student-centred and strength-based approach.

The primary focus of this role is to ensure all students can thrive within the school's learning programme. To achieve this, you will need to collaborate with the team around the child, identifying and addressing individual learning needs. This may involve working with students in classrooms and small groups, providing Academic, Social, Emotional and Behavioural Support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting class teachers to provide differentiated programmes and writing individualised plans
  • Providing Academic, Social, Emotional and Behavioural Support to students in classrooms and small groups
  • Collaborating with the team around the child to identify and address individual learning needs
  • Working closely with leadership, teachers and other school staff to identify root causes of student learning challenges

An important aspect of this role is coaching and supporting staff to implement in-class support plans, including workshops. Your ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues will be essential in establishing a happy, stimulating and safe learning environment for all children.

To excel in this role, you will need to possess a strengths-based, inclusive philosophy and experience supporting students with academic, attentional, social communication and other associated difficulties. A proven track record of delivering personalised curricula for pupils with additional needs is also essential.
