Job Title: Secondary Teacher-Humanities

The role of a Secondary Teacher-Humanities is to facilitate learning, impart knowledge, and guide students towards academic success. Teachers are responsible for creating a conducive classroom environment that supports student well-being and prepares them for future stages of their academic journey.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Organization: The teacher organizes the classroom and learning resources according to school agreements, valuing all areas of the curriculum.
  • Syllabi Update: The teacher updates syllabi, weekly planning documents, and unit plans for the delivery of relevant syllabi.
  • Lesson Planning: The teacher designs, plans, and implements lessons that adhere to curriculum standards and promote active learning experiences.
  • Teaching Aids: The teacher identifies, utilizes, and sometimes creates teaching aids and resources to enhance the learning experience.
  • Display Management: The teacher creates and maintains displays to encourage a positive and valued learning environment in line with school policies.
  • Differentiated Instruction: The teacher teaches according to the educational needs, abilities, and achievement of individual students and groups, differentiating for and catering to the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
  • Evaluation and Feedback: The teacher evaluates regularly students' progress in compliance with the Assessment Policy and calendar, providing timely feedback in written form.
  • External Learning Experience: The teacher sources at least one external learning experience (educational visits, professional visitors) to enhance students' learning each semester.
  • Parent Reports: The teacher completes written reports to parents as per school guidelines.
  • Discipline Maintenance: The teacher maintains discipline, ensuring that the learning environment is respectful and inclusive.
  • Assessment Support: The teacher provides or contributes to oral and written assessments, reports, and references relating to individual students or groups of students.
  • Classroom Management: The teacher runs effective classrooms that are well-managed and where students are actively participating and engaged in their learning.
  • Attendance Monitoring: The teacher registers and monitors the attendance of students.

Child Protection:
  • Safe Classroom Environment: The teacher ensures a safe classroom environment, free from hazards, and is aware of emergency protocols.
  • Distress Recognition: The teacher recognizes signs of distress, abuse, or other issues that might affect a child's emotional and physical well-being.
  • Mandatory Reporting: The teacher understands and adheres to mandatory reporting laws, ensuring that any concerns about a student's safety or well-being are promptly and properly reported to the appropriate parties.
  • Knowledge Update: The teacher regularly updates knowledge on child protection policies and practices.
  • Confidentiality: The teacher maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information related to students unless disclosure is necessary for the safety of the child or as required by law.
