Key Responsibilities

A Resident Technical Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring project progress, including quality control and cost management.
  • Verifying that contractors adhere to specifications outlined in tender documents.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all works completed, including site diaries, test results, and equipment inventory.
  • Ensuring architectural specifications are met and enforced by contractors.
  • Liaising with contractors and sub-contractors to coordinate site works.
  • Providing oversight and quality assurance for on-site and off-site manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborating with other site staff, including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers.
  • Reporting delays and issues to consultants and employers immediately.
  • Reviewing contractor reports and claims, submitting weekly progress reports, and drawing up defect lists.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A diploma in architecture or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as an RTO, preferably in healthcare projects.
  • Experience with precast facade works is advantageous.
  • Strong coordination skills for architectural, structural, and M&E works.
  • Familiarity with statutory regulations, codes, and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to resolve site and technical issues, prepare detailed site progress reports, and communicate effectively with technical personnel and workmen.
  • Good integrity, ability to differentiate personal preferences from official rights, and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of BIM/VDC capabilities is advantageous.
