Job Title: Strings Assistant - Maternity Cover

Dulwich College (Singapore) is seeking a highly skilled Strings Assistant to cover a period of maternity leave from Early November 2024 to Early February 2025. The successful candidate will have a genuine commitment to child-initiated and active learning, putting children first and ensuring they are challenged as individuals.

The ideal candidate will have recent experience of an inquiry, concept-based approach to curriculum planning and be able to play a bowed string instrument (violin/viola/cello) to a high standard. They will support the Lead Strings Teacher with tuning violins/violas/cellos at the start of lessons and assist with individual children's string technique and note reading skills throughout the lessons.

The Strings Assistant will also be responsible for leading and working independently with small groups of children to develop their string technique, coaching small string chamber music groups of more advanced musicians in the Junior School, and helping to maintain the College's string instrument stock and change strings when required.

The successful candidate will be organised, prepared, efficient, independent, goal and target driven, perceptive, and have a can-do attitude. They will have a strong background in string pedagogy, experience teaching beginners in a mixed ability classroom, and a willingness to teach whole class string pedagogy.
