Strings Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Strings Assistant to cover a period of maternity leave from Early November 2024 to Early February 2025. The successful candidate will have a genuine commitment to child-initiated and active learning, putting children first and ensuring they are challenged as individuals.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience of an inquiry, concept-based approach to curriculum planning and a strong background in string pedagogy. They will be able to play a bowed string instrument (violin/viola/cello) to a high standard and support the Lead Strings Teacher with tuning violins/violas/cellos at the start of lessons.
The Strings Assistant will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Lead Strings Teacher with lesson planning and delivery
- Leading and working independently with small groups of children to develop their string technique
- Coaching small string chamber music groups of more advanced musicians in the Junior School
- Maintaining the College's string instrument stock and changing strings when required
- Helping to organize and distribute books and ensemble music required for the strings program
The successful candidate will be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to child protection and safeguarding.
