As a Casualty Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting large and complex cases across Asia. Your key objective will be to meet projected profitability and expense goals, while implementing proper underwriting disciplines and marketing strategies to existing and potential clients.

Job Description:

The position involves administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, as well as rating rules and models. You will work closely with distribution channel underwriters, providing technical guidance, assistance, and training as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite direct and inward-facultative submissions, conducting pricing analysis, setting terms and conditions, and authorizing quotes, binders, and invoices.
  • Responsible for profitable growth of designated geographies and specific brokers or cedants.
  • Execute the approved business plan to establish and develop a balanced and diverse book of business in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Set appropriate terms and conditions following the company's strategy to quote selected risks.
  • Exercise proper underwriting and pricing discipline to meet profitability goals and comply with underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures.
Requirements:

Minimum 2 years (Underwriter) and minimum 5 years (Senior Underwriter) of experience in Commercial Insurance sector, preferably in underwriting and/or a core focus in Casualty class of business.

Candidates need to have strong fundamentals in underwriting principles, pricing, and knowledge of policy wordings.

Good communication skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite are essential.
