Student Guidance Specialist

The ideal candidate will be a valuable member of the Student Development Team, responsible for delivering student guidance services at Hwa Chong Institution.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct guidance intervention for students in the High School Section and, where needed, in the College Section.
  • Collaborate with other counsellors to design and implement a comprehensive guidance system.
  • Coordinate with the Case Management Team to provide timely support for students who require guidance.
  • Make home visits for students who are unable to come to school.
  • Consult with staff on managing students with academic, behavioural, and emotional issues.
  • SOURCE AND PROVIDE TRAINING FOR STAFF ON AFFECTIVE SKILLS.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to set up upstream prevention strategies.
  • Conduct workshops for parents to align their expectations with the institution's and strengthen their parenting skills.
  • Support the Caring Action in Response to Emergencies (CARE) team in providing guidance support during emergencies.
  • Design and implement programs to promote students' social and emotional growth.

Requirements:

  • Graduate qualification in student guidance, counselling or clinical psychology.
  • Registered guidance professional and/or clinical supervisor with the relevant association or a registered psychologist with the relevant society.
  • A minimum of ONE year of professional guidance experience and competent in case management and critical incident management.
  • Proficient in professional guidance approaches and tools to help clients with diverse issues and conditions.
  • Experience in working with young adults, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team and conducting continual Professional Development training for staff is advantageous.
