The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a hub for interdisciplinary research in key areas such as computational materials science, characterization materials science, and defence composite materials. Our team provides a nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out cutting-edge research in sustainable materials, nanomaterials, low-dimensional materials, biomaterials, and biological materials.

Our research focuses on developing soft active grippers for manipulation of objects in industry applications. This project is part of the Smart Gripper for Soft Robotics program funded by NRF CREATE. The design of coatings, materials preparation, and process of coatings require understanding surface properties and mechanical properties. Basic understanding of electrochemistry and electrical properties will be required for applications in soft robotics.

Project Objective

We are seeking a talented postdoc with a creative mindset and appropriate skillsets to deliver the project of soft grippers, particularly on coatings and interfaces of the soft gripper with its surroundings.
