Job Summary:

This position involves designing, overseeing, conducting, and furthering scientific research within a group. The ideal candidate will stay up-to-date with the latest scientific literature, particularly in emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases of public health importance. They will design, plan, supervise experiments/projects, and work closely with academic and industry collaborators.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Develop research proposals, budgets, and timelines for new projects
  • Participate in strategic-planning activities, such as identifying new research opportunities, assessing potential clinical translation of research, and developing long-term research plans
  • Review scientific publications to keep up to date with the current knowledge in relevant fields
  • Lead research conduct and develop new methodologies in order to advance knowledge within the group and in the group's area of interest
  • Communicate scientific findings, such as through published research papers or presentations at scientific conferences, both locally and internationally
  • Help foster collaborations with other academic institutions and industry partners

  • Fulfill all duties and responsibilities assigned
  • Adhere to all general hospital and laboratory policies concerning dress code, professional conduct, attendance/punctuality, documentation, performance criteria, and other directives
  • Comply with research ethics and patient confidentiality
  • Comply with all safety regulations and infection control policies/procedures stipulated by the laboratory/TTSH/NCID
  • Help promote a working environment of collegiality and teamwork
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline such as Microbiology, Biomedical/Life Sciences, Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology, Public Health, etc.

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience working in a research/clinical/public health laboratory
  • Prior experience in publication of research findings would be an advantage
