Senior Scientific Officer Job Description

This role will be responsible for conducting and overseeing scientific research in the group, aligned with the Applied Genomics Core objectives.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline such as Microbiology, Biomedical/Life Sciences, Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology, Public Health etc. and at least 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience working in a research/clinical/public health laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, oversee, conduct and further scientific research in the group
  2. Keep abreast of the scientific literature, particularly emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases of public health importance
  3. Supervise research assistants and attached undergraduate and graduate students
  4. Work closely with academic and industry collaborators from other institutions
  5. Analyze and present data, and write scientific papers for publication
  6. Involve in administrative activities

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • PhD in Microbiology, Biomedical/Life Sciences, Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology, Public Health etc.
  • At least 3-5 years of post-doctoral experience in research/clinical/public health laboratory
  • Prior experience in publication of research findings
