Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled paintings conservator to join our team at the Heritage Conservation Centre, a repository and conservation facility for the National Collection.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough conservation assessments, document and treat the National Collection in accordance with established procedures.
  • Serve as liaison officer to oversee conservation-related aspects of exhibition preparations, ensuring that artworks are preserved and showcased effectively.
  • Be involved in preventive measures, storage optimization, and provide guidance on transport, handling and display requirements to ensure the safe movement and presentation of artworks.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching and training for junior staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct specialized conservation research projects to enhance collection knowledge and improve preservation methods.
  • Implement effective documentation and knowledge management processes to ensure seamless communication among teams.
  • Participate in administrative duties within the paintings section and conservation services department, supporting the overall success of the team.

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in Conservation with specialization in Easel Paintings and minimum 5-8 years of work experience, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality conservation results.
  • Experience in providing expert advice on complex conservation treatments and managing exhibition and research projects, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach and impart conservation skills effectively, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
