Optical Metrology Specialist

This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge optical metrology instrumentation, defining optimal solutions for various applications. You will be an expert operator of our systems and develop a deep understanding of their capabilities.


Job Description

The Optical Metrology Specialist will be responsible for becoming an expert in ZYGO's optical metrology instrumentation. This includes operating equipment, performing measurements, and providing technical support to customers.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Becoming an expert in ZYGO's optical metrology instrumentation and its applications.
  2. Defining the optimum solution to meet specific requirements of a metrology application.
  3. Supporting the sales team through customer sample measurements, instrument demonstrations, and measurement reports.
  4. Performing onsite training of customers through individual visits as well as supporting tradeshows, technical meetings, and conferences.
  5. Staying up-to-date with new industry developments, trends, and applications.
  6. Assessing the performance of ZYGO products from a user's point of view and providing feedback to support product development.
  7. Investigating new uses of ZYGO's technology.

Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or related field.
  2. 5-10 years of experience in a technical role.
  3. Experience in a customer-facing product support role.
  4. Knowledge and experience within the Optics, Consumer Electronics, Semiconductor, Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, or Disk Drive industry.
  5. Strong ability to communicate to sales, engineering, operations, and management teams on all levels (internal and external).
  6. Programming experience in Python is required.
  7. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  8. Willingness to travel up to 50% or more.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Background within a technical specialty preferred.
  2. Metrology experience within the Automotive, Optics, Photonics, or Aerospace market is an advantage.
  3. Programming experience in Mountains Maps, Mountains Lab software, and MATLAB, or related is preferred.
  4. Knowledge and experience of optical metrology systems are strongly desired.
