Overview of the Role

This position involves working as a technical specialist, interfacing with customers and internal teams to deliver world-class customer service.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in optical metrology instrumentation and be able to define solutions that meet specific customer requirements.

Becoming an expert operator of ZYGO's optical metrology instrumentation is essential for success in this role.

We are looking for a skilled individual who can support the sales team through customer sample measurements, instrument demonstrations, and measurement reports.

Presentation and communication skills are crucial for this position, as the successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams and present to both internal and external stakeholders.

A strong ability to communicate complex technical information effectively is required.

Beyond technical expertise, the ideal candidate should have excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  1. Support the sales team through customer sample measurements, instrument demonstrations, and measurement reports.

  2. Perform onsite training of customers through individual visits as well as supporting tradeshows, technical meetings, and conferences.

  3. Stay abreast of new industry developments, trends, and applications.

  4. Assess the performance of ZYGO products from a user's point of view and provide feedback to support product development.

  5. Investigate new uses of ZYGO's technology.

  6. Work closely with Research and Development and Engineering to communicate customer feedback, develop new product features, and troubleshoot new system and new software prior to release.

  7. Generate and/or review technical documentation and marketing collateral such as application notes, webinars, videos, and presentations.

  8. Deliver world-class customer service during all parts of the buying process and aftermarket support.

In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences and contribute to the growth and success of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics or related field.

  • Experience (5-10 years) in a technical role.

  • Experience in a customer-facing product support role.

  • Knowledge and experience within the Optics, Consumer Electronics, Semiconductor, Aerospace, Defense, Automotive or Disk Drive industry.

  • Strong ability to communicate to sales, engineering, operations, and management teams on all levels (internal and external).

  • Programming experience in Python required.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% or more.
