Key Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and providing support to students with special needs.
  • Help with daily living activities, such as feeding, toileting, and dressing, as needed.
  • Assist with classroom management and organization, including setting up materials and equipment.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement strategies to support students with special needs.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with special needs.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
  • Experience working with children with special needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and move equipment and materials as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with students with specific disabilities, such as autism or physical disabilities.
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology and assistive devices.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
