Job Title: CNC Machinist Specialist

CNC machinists are responsible for operating computer-controlled machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.

The job requires a high degree of skill and knowledge in programming, setup, and operation of CNC machines. Key responsibilities include:

  • Programming CNC machines by entering instructions and parameters, including zero and reference points, tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
  • Sets up CNC machines by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
  • Loading feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifying settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
  • Maintaining specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools.
  • Maintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintaining equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.
  • Maintaining continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful as a CNC machinist, you should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a CNC machinist or in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming languages, including G-code and M-code.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
