Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of climate risk management strategies and frameworks across DBS' markets.
  • Function as ESG approver for transactions/borrowers classified as higher risk from an ESG perspective.
  • Drive the interpretation of expectations from key regulators and ensure risk compliance with emerging environmental risk regulations.
  • Work closely with the Institutional Banking Group (IBG) and Consumer Banking Wealth Management Group (CBWM) to recommend and drive enhancements of risk policies and guidelines.
  • Provide guidance to IBG/CBWM Credit Risk Managers on climate risk assessments and considerations.
  • Manage interactions with external parties on climate risk topics, including regular reporting and updates.
  • Contribute Risk input to broader firm-wide sustainability strategic commitments.
  • Guide internal risk functions in adapting internal policies for environmental risk considerations.
  • Work towards building an understanding of new climate change products and services.
  • Develop and oversee climate risk capacity building.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in a sustainability-related field and/or a relevant risk domain.
  • Experience and proven track record in Climate and ESG Risk management in the financial sector.
  • Familiarity with the increasing regulatory expectations facing banks with respect to Climate Risk/ESG matters.
  • A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in a financial institution with relevant knowledge of climate risk management.
  • Proven track record of senior stakeholder management on climate and environmental risk.
  • Passionate and updated about the latest climate-related trends, news, science, and literature.
  • Resourceful, with strong ability to leverage on contacts within the banking industry, rating agencies, consultants, etc.
  • Self-motivated and driven to produce high-quality deliverables.
