About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Project Officer in the Centre for Sustainable Finance Innovation (CSFI) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The successful candidate will play a key role in developing preliminary data analysis to measure and price risks arising from climate change, suitable for each company, to enable effective climate risk management and hedging by investors.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Utilize computational linguistic tools and machine learning techniques to analyze discussions on climate change in corporate social responsibility reports, conference call transcripts, and the Management Discussion and Analysis section of companies' annual reports.
  2. Construct a dataset that can produce a climate risk fact sheet containing essential information about various climate risk exposure (e.g., drought, flooding) of a region or a city.
  3. Handle data management and statistical analyses.
  4. Work effectively with colleagues from across the Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) and with local collaborators in ASEAN countries.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's Degree in data analytics or a closely related field.
  2. Ability to work independently to develop research in challenging environments.
  3. Collaborative, with an interest in working with other researchers and scientists to produce high-quality and impactful research.
  4. Interest in climate, green, or sustainable finance.
  5. Excellent knowledge of computational linguistic tools and machine-learning techniques.
  6. Experience with data analysis with Python and STATA.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, which is essential for conducting research.
