Job Title: Fleet Superintendent

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Superintendent to join our team at V. Group. As a key member of our technical department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety: Ensure the safe operation of vessels and protect the environment.
  • Customer: Deliver technical management services to customers and ensure they fully benefit from the operational performance of their ships.
  • Ownership: Manage vessels to the highest safety standards, effectively and efficiently, in accordance with Flag, Class, and Statutory Requirements.
  • Leadership: Authorize selection processes for senior officers, build and maintain professional relationships with senior ship colleagues, and conduct performance appraisals.
  • PMS: Ensure job descriptions and maintenance intervals are as per manufacturer's manual, and repairs history and spares consumed are correctly recorded in ShipSure.
  • Client: Serve as the first contact point for assigned vessels, provide timely and accurate reports to clients, and liaise with respective clients.
  • Monitor: Monitor vessel performance trends, implement timely remedial actions, and ensure vessels are operated economically.
  • Report Issues: Ensure any issues affecting safety, environmental, or operational performance are reported in time.
  • Planning: Plan dry dock, vacation, ship inspections, and other absences with the Fleet Manager to ensure consistent service to customers.
  • Quality: Prepare vessels for inspection/audit by PSC, Flag, Oil Major, and similar bodies, and ensure all third-party inspections are passed.
  • Reporting: Advocate for ShipSure and ensure it is properly utilized within the fleet cell.
  • Finance: Work with relevant members of the Fleet Cell and Vessel to coordinate information required for the preparation of vessels' running cost budget and maintain strict control of all aspects of vessel expenditure.
Requirements:
  • Recognized Engineering or Naval Architecture qualification and/or relevant experience at sea.
  • Good communication (oral and written) and English language skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact with people at all levels.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • An ability to develop creative and effective solutions to problems.
Desirable:
  • 2 years' experience as a senior shipboard officer on relevant ship type.
  • Previous experience as a Fleet Superintendent in a Technical Department or previous experience in a Senior Engineering/Naval Architecture position in the Marine Industry.
  • Member of IMarEST and Engineering Council registration or other equivalent recognized professional registration.
  • Basic financial understanding and some experience in administering budgets.
