Job Description

This role will join our risk management team in developing and implementing cutting-edge risk models, monitoring risk limits, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with our Head of Risk to:

  1. Develop, document, prototype, and test risk models to quantify our overall risk exposure on market making books and proprietary trading desks.
  2. Roll out and monitor market risk frameworks to effectively manage market risks.
  3. Evaluate and implement relevant risk measures, controls, and processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders.
  4. Communicate risk decisions transparently and professionally, especially when declining proposals.
  5. Provide regular or ad-hoc market risk activity reports to senior management.
  6. Support new product approvals by identifying, measuring, setting, and monitoring risk limits.
  7. Collaborate with the Head of Risk to manage our risk profile and maintain regulatory relationships, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.
Key Responsibilities

As a Cryptocurrency Risk Management Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring consistent application of our market risk framework.
  • Assessing market risks and making informed risk-return decisions.
  • Reviewing and implementing traded risk measurement methodologies.
  • Analyzing market risk data and formulating strategies to reduce and mitigate risks.
  • Designing and implementing stress tests and scenario analysis for our trading desks.
  • Maintaining real-time monitoring of Value-at-Risk (VaR), Conditional VaR (CVaR), and stress tests for all trading desks.
Emerging Risks and Challenges

You will identify and report material risks to the Head of Risk, challenge business teams with evidence, and recommend relevant controls to manage emerging risks. Additionally, you will:

  • Create transparency and escalate key exposures in blockchain layers to relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor internal and external events that could impact our business and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Track client accounts and positions for breaches of terms or margins offered.
Requirements

We seek an experienced market risk manager with:

  • In-depth knowledge of options and FX/interest rate derivatives.
  • Basic coding experience in Python/R for prototyping risk models.
  • A deep interest in cryptocurrency and basic understanding of DeFi protocols/mechanisms.
  • Understanding of the crypto derivatives market, including perpetual futures, term futures, and options markets.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic start-up environment with a flat structure and open communication.
