As a senior pharmacist, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing patient outcomes by delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care services. Your responsibilities will encompass managing inventory, ensuring drugs are dispensed according to established protocols and legal requirements, and maintaining the operational efficiency and profitability of the pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Professional Services:
    • Ensure accurate medication dispensing to the correct patient.
    • Monitor the activities of assigned pharmacy technicians engaged in the preparation, labeling, and delivery of medications and other pharmaceutical supplies.
    • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations regarding drug dispensing and controlled substances.
    • Resolve any prescription ambiguities with prescribers.
    • Identify, assess, and resolve drug-related issues.
    • Advise patients and care providers on potential drug interactions, possible side effects, storage information, and usage instructions for medications.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Ensure medications are stored properly in the pharmacy, adhering to policy and legal requirements.
    • Implement control procedures for loss prevention.
    • Enforce security measures for the storage of controlled substances.
    • Assist in managing inventory to maintain an optimal level.
  • Staff Development & Training:
    • Orientate and induct newly recruited pharmacy technicians/assistants.
    • Provide training and guidance to pharmacy students and technician students on attachment.
  • Administrative Functions:
    • Maintain the administrative functions necessary for pharmacy operation.
    • Prepare reports accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Offer regular feedback on process improvements.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure applicable laws and regulations are met, with relevant documentation maintained.
