Culinary Assistant

JOB SUMMARY
As a Culinary Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients for meal preparation, which includes tasks such as portioning, chopping, and storing food items. Your role will involve washing and peeling fresh produce, weighing, measuring, and mixing various ingredients. You will prepare and cook dishes according to established recipes, quality benchmarks, presentation guidelines, and food preparation protocols. Additionally, you will be tasked with preparing cold dishes and operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. It is essential to test food items to ensure they are cooked to the appropriate level and to monitor food quality throughout the cooking process. You will set up and dismantle your work station, serve food in appropriate portions, and maintain cleanliness by washing and disinfecting kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Regular checks on the temperature of appliances and food items will also be part of your responsibilities.
You are expected to adhere to all company policies regarding safety and security, reporting any maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to your supervisor. Completing safety training and certifications is mandatory. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance is crucial, as is the confidentiality of proprietary information and the protection of company assets. Effective communication with colleagues using clear and professional language is essential. You will foster positive working relationships with team members, supporting collective goals and responding appropriately to the concerns of others. Adherence to quality expectations and standards is a key aspect of your role. You should be prepared to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as reaching overhead, bending, twisting, and lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Other reasonable job duties may be assigned by supervisors as needed.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Related Work Experience
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is preferred
