SharePoint Administrator Role

The role of a SharePoint administrator involves setting up, configuring, and supporting SharePoint servers. This includes participating in all phases of software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and system design to implementation, testing, and deployment.

  • Responsibilities include:
  • Managing user permission levels and configuring anonymous access as required
  • Configuring Business Connectivity Services (BCS) to connect SharePoint with external data sources like SQL databases and WCF services
  • Setting up and managing core SharePoint service applications (e.g., Search, Metadata, User Profile Synchronization)
  • Designing and implementing automated business solutions using SharePoint/Nintex workflows and forms
  • Developing custom workflows in Nintex for complex business logic
  • Maintaining Content Databases and managing SQL Server logging databases, including performance tuning and compression
  • Installing, configuring, upgrading, and monitoring SharePoint farms/servers
  • Providing user training and day-to-day support, promoting best practices and optimal usage of SharePoint sites
  • Addressing and resolving production issues promptly to minimize user disruption
  • Participating in team meetings, code reviews, and contributing to solution improvements
  • Maintaining service quality and performance in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Preparing and submitting regular progress reports and documentation
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on SharePoint administration and customization
  • Proficiency in SharePoint Server setup, configuration, and support
  • Hands-on experience with Nintex Workflow/Form development, dashboards, and business process automation
  • Solid understanding of SQL Server administration and performance optimization
  • Experience with Business Connectivity Services, WCF, and external system integration
  • Familiarity with IIS, Active Directory, and mail/SFTP configurations
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Experience in working within structured Agile or SDLC frameworks
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Administrator, Microsoft 365 Developer Associate, or Nintex Certified Professional are highly desirable
