We are seeking an experienced Oil Analyst, Distillates to join our team at THE CAP CONSULTING GROUP PTE. LTD. as a key member of our Research / Trading Department.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain market fundamentals, short/medium term supply/demand analysis, and trader support for the trading function globally, with a primary focus on Asia Pacific analysis for Middle Distillates products.
- Provide support for ship and cargo tracking for the Asia region.
- Support ad-hoc projects and analysis around market fundamentals to support trade ideas.
- Work closely with the trading team to develop an outlook of market trends, incorporating downtime, seasonal cycles, macroeconomic variables, and utilizing import/export data to ensure model accuracy.
- Demonstrate and develop a strong understanding of commodity pricing, including location spreads, time spreads, crack spreads, commodity spreads, forward curves, and seasonality.
- Communicate external and internal market views to assist traders with successful implementation of trading strategies.
- Understand and communicate geopolitical and regulatory events/factors that may impact price movements.
- Provide support to the information gathering process and developing presentation packages as needed.
- Drive improvement of existing forecast models and developing new models for commercial outcomes.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with expertise in market modeling and forecasting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong understanding of the energy sector and market dynamics.
- Working knowledge of broader commodity markets (Crude, Gasoline, Distillates).
- Working knowledge of refining/petrochemicals.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data analysis.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience: About 3 to 10 years of experience in market analysis or a related role, with a proven track record of leading market research and providing strategic insights.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- The role may involve working with confidential and sensitive information.
- This is a 100% work-from-office arrangement.
