Telecoms Systems Specialist Job Description

This role requires a professional with expertise in telecom systems, navigational systems, and ICT networks. The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning planning and management, system commissioning and integration, technical coordination and interface management, documentation and compliance, and handover and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commissioning Planning & Management
  1. Develop comprehensive commissioning plans that ensure seamless integration of ICT, telecom, and navigational systems.
System Commissioning & Integration
  1. Oversee the commissioning of telecommunication systems to ensure they meet required standards.
Technical Coordination & Interface Management
  1. Cultivate effective relationships with system vendors, construction teams, and client representatives to ensure proper installation, configuration, and testing of all ICT and telecommunication systems.
Documentation & Compliance
  1. Review and verify commissioning documentation to ensure compliance with project HSE plans, cybersecurity protocols, and applicable standards.
Handover & Operational Readiness
  1. Ensure smooth handovers of systems by preparing comprehensive handover documentation and providing training to client or operations teams.
Requirements:
  • A degree or diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications, or ICT Engineering.
  • 8-10 years of experience in site commissioning within the marine/offshore oil and gas sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of telecom systems, navigational systems, and ICT networks.
  • Experience with IP addressing, VLAN configuration, network security, and industrial protocols.
  • Familiarity with offshore standards and safety protocols; certifications such as BOSIET, HUET preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with FAT, SAT, and site commissioning procedures.
