Energy Storage Project Lead

The Energy Storage Project Lead oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of energy storage projects. Key responsibilities include project planning and execution, technical and regulatory compliance, stakeholder and team coordination, financial and risk management, and commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Execution:
    • Lead end-to-end project lifecycle for energy storage systems.
    • Develop project schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
    • Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
  • Technical & Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure ESS projects meet local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Work closely with regulatory agencies, utilities, and permitting bodies.
    • Stay updated on advancements in battery energy storage technologies.
  • Stakeholder & Team Coordination:
    • Collaborate with internal teams to align project goals.
    • Manage relationships with external stakeholders.
    • Communicate project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Financial & Risk Management:
    • Monitor project budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Commissioning & Handover:
    • Oversee system testing, commissioning, and performance validation.
    • Ensure seamless integration of ESS with the electrical grid or microgrid systems.
    • Provide training and documentation to O&M teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in renewable energy, power systems, or battery energy storage projects.
  • Strong understanding of energy storage technologies, grid interconnection, and power electronics.
  • Familiarity with energy market regulations, permitting processes, and utility-scale storage applications.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving project requirements.
