Project Director Job Description

The Project Director will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of projects in the construction industry.

  • Craft overall project strategies, manage budgets and oversee projects to ensure timely completion.
  • Liaise with engineers, architects etc. to determine project specifications, negotiate contracts and oversee project implementations.
  • Utilize strong interpersonal, communication & negotiation skills when working closely with clients and suppliers to ensure effective delivery within set time frames, costs and quality objectives.
  • Determine necessary resources such as manpower, equipment and materials from project commencement to completion while considering budgetary limitations.
  • Review contractual terms, attend meetings/site walks to gain clear understanding of project requirements and identify potential issues.
  • Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to meet deadlines, monitor works for contract compliance and verify completed works.
  • Lead the project team and provide effective supervision to ensure works meet quality standards and health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) objectives.
  • Address site problems, conduct meetings with the project team to identify issues encountered during the construction period and provide leadership to team members to ensure effective resolution.
  • Manage post-construction issues with clients, consultants, sub-contractors and relevant authorities, ensuring timely rectification.
  • Review and endorse subcontract documents and progress/work claims submitted by clients and sub-contractors, handle project tendering stages and liaise with stakeholders to facilitate smooth project progression.

Requirements and Skills

  1. Deep understanding of construction procedures, material management principles and risk assessment techniques.
  2. Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards, environmental regulations and best practices.
  3. Excellent organizational, planning and time-management skills, ability to lead teams and motivate individuals to achieve project goals.
  4. A collaborative team player with leadership abilities, commercial awareness and sound business acumen.
Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have experience in project planning, cost control, team management, quality assurance and construction procedures, with a deep understanding of quality and health and safety standards.

This role requires a skilled professional who can effectively lead and manage projects in the construction industry, with excellent organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants and contractors.
