Medical Laboratory Technologist Job Description

To deliver high-quality laboratory services to our customers by performing diagnostic procedures and related tasks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical laboratory science and excellent technical skills. They will also possess good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Process laboratory specimens, rejecting unsuitable ones for analysis.
  • Operate the laboratory information system for result query, order entry, and result entry.
  • Perform waived tests and moderate complexity tests in accordance with laboratory protocols.
  • Alert critical values to relevant personnel.
  • Report adverse incidents to senior staff members.
  • Prepare reagents and materials requiring special handling for reliability.
  • Respond to customer queries and resolve issues.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment and notify relevant personnel of malfunctions.
  • Reorder test kits, reagents, or supplies as needed.
  • Perform shift duties when required.
  • Stay updated on new instrumentation, techniques, and procedures through workshops, seminars, and education classes.
  • Fulfill instructions from senior staff regarding work procedures and duties.
  • Comply with good laboratory practice, laboratory safety manual, and workplace etiquette.
  • Evaluate new laboratory test methodologies.
  • Demonstrate laboratory procedures to trainees and new staff.
  • Guide Laboratory Technicians, Clerical Staff, and Health Attendants in their work when required.
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science
  • 1-2 years of Clinical Laboratory experience
  • Strong laboratory skills
  • Good general health and no color blindness
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent initiative and attitude
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
