Design Engineer Opportunity

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing civil infrastructure projects, including underground rail/road/viaduct projects.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills and the ability to ensure that all designs comply with local regulations, safety standards, and engineering codes.
  • Responsibilities include analysing tender documents, drawings, and specifications for feasibility and constructability, as well as developing optimized construction methodologies and technical proposals to enhance bid competitiveness.
  • Additional duties include preparing method statements and technical submissions aligned with safety and regulatory standards, leading the design of roadworks, drainage, earthworks, and related civil infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with local codes, PE Board standards, and engineering best practices.
  • The Design Engineer will also be responsible for reviewing and approving design deliverables for accuracy and constructability, collaborating with quantity surveyors, planners, BIM teams, and procurement to align technical strategies, interfacing with subcontractors and suppliers for value engineering and alternative solutions, conducting site visits and feasibility studies to identify constraints and risks, proposing mitigation strategies and integrating findings into tender planning, working with BIM and planning software (e.g., Civil 3D, Primavera, MS Project) to visualize and sequence construction plans, and preparing designs, sketches, and reports with supporting calculations for projects.

Job Requirements:

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering recognised by the PE Board is essential.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of design experience and proficiency in Primavera P6 software are required.
  • Candidates must be well-versed in local design/code of practices and statutory requirements, with experience in infrastructural works being an advantage.
